Topic “Evolution”

The idea of evolution, and in its wake, that of development in general, had an enormous impact on modern societies until the present day. Therefore, the development and generation of spaces inside those societies cannot be understood without conceiving them as ‘evolving’ ones. Of peculiar interest with regard to spatial concepts are the following perspectives:
- Epistemological approaches to understand the phenomena of evolution and development. What does evolving and developing really mean, in peculiar when related to human spaces?
- Influences of concepts originating from Biology for the interpretation of human society. Social Darwinism is merely the most prominent case; there are other connotations of evolution which still influence our basic understanding about “what a society is”, and out of it, what “truly” human spaces are ought to be.
- Related to that, what are prevalent mindsets about evolution, development, progress, and how they influence basic practices of interpreting as well as moulding “social systems” and hence, spaces?
- Evolution as formatting process is another important perspective. Centering on techno-evolution but not confined to the latter, since also other formatting processes can be figured out, processes related to our specific ways of life aligned to a so-called technical civilization, a form of cultural expression that is essentially driven by market and technology. Processes which had, and still have, their respective impacts on human spatiality, in particular on the social one.
- The evolution of a new type of spatiality shall be considered, a virtual space existing in parallel to the old, physically-based one. It is about the mutual influences, which kinds of spatiality are going to emerge, and which forms of sociality.
These are the main perspectives to be pursued by this topic, and you are invited to participate.
Ein sehr interessanter Topic, weil er in seiner Schwerpunktsetzung vom
landläufigen Verständnis von Evolution als rein biologischem Vorgang abweicht.
Was die Evolution von Räumen betrifft, ist aus meiner Sicht die Verbindung zum Topic ” Spatial
Cybernetics” wichtig:
Welche Arten von technisch-industrialisiertem Raum entstanden in unserer heutigen Epoche,
wie wirkt das zurück auf die Bewohner solcher Räume, d.h. auf uns Zeitgenossen?
Zuerst einmal möchte ich Sie beglückwünschen zu diesem sehr interessanten Artikel.
Es gibt viele “evolutionäre” Räume, welche wir in unserem täglichen Leben zwar nicht direkt
wahrnehmen, die es aber beeinflussen, zum Teil sogar sehr nachhaltig. Der Raum des
Wirtschaftlichen beispielsweise. Er ist uns zwar so selbstverständlich geworden, dass wir ihn
oft gar nicht mehr bewusst als Einflusskraft wahrnehmen, und dennoch formt er unser Leben,
weil er es in jedem Bereich durchdringt.
Der Klimawandel z.B. wurde durch wirtschaftliche Aktivitäten ausgelöst, hier wirkt also der Wirtschaftsraum auf den ökologischen, und beide wirken auf unseren unmittelbaren Lebensraum zurück .
Die Darstellung einzelner Räume, die Zusammenhänge, die Wechselwirkungen, in denen diese Räume zueinander stehen, und ihre Entwicklung, ihre Evolution ist aus meiner Sicht ein sehr spannendes Thema, zu dem ich mir noch mehr Artikel wünsche.
